2015-2016 College Bowl Breakdown
The 2015-2016 college football season sees a record 38 bowl games and the 4-team College Football Playoff starting December 31st in the Orange and Cotton Bowls. Thus, 80 teams will get to play postseason football as the 2015-2016 bowl schedule begins on December 19th and concludes on January 11th with the National Championship Game. Given 80 teams in the postseason and 128 teams playing in Division I-A/FBS, this leaves 48 schools staying at home for the holidays and watching on ESPN.
This page will be constantly updated until we have our 80 bowl teams for the 2015-2016 bowl season. Keep checking in for more!
December 1 Update: Several 5-win schools will be bowl eligible due to the lack of enough bowl eligible schools. The 5-win bowl eligible schools have been determined by the NCAA based on their Academic Progress Rate and include: Nebraska (985), Kansas State (976), Missouri (976), Minnesota (975), San Jose State (975), Illinois (973) and Rice (973). Missouri football has already publicly stated that they will not accept a bowl bid.
Overall, all 6-6 or better bowl eligible teams should get a bowl bid with the 5-7 schools on the bubble.
