2014 Liberty Bowl Preview

West Virginia (7-5 - Big 12) vs Texas A&M (7-5 - SEC)

Date: Monday, December 29, 2014
Time: 2:00 p.m. (EST)
Television: ESPN

It is the Big XII of old versus the Big XII present as the Mountaineers take on the Texas Aggies in the 2014 Liberty Bowl. No doubt there are many across the league, and particularly amongst the league teams in the Lone Star State, that would love to see WVU embarrass the College Station football team. The game also features two head coaches in Dana Holgorsen and Kevin Sumlin that were on the same coaching staff at the University of Houston.

When it comes to the motivation of the two teams, The Law believes that West Virginia is eager to show they have truly arrived in the Big XII by beating the team that dumped the league and created the spot for WVU. For A&M, the Liberty Bowl is an SEC bowl-Siberia of sorts. The Aggies didn't sign up with the SEC to play bowl games in Memphis. Expect WVU fans and alums to be the majority when the game kicks off.

QB Clint Trickett has been cleared to play in the Liberty Bowl after sitting the end of the regular season with a concussion. Backup Skyler Howard was quite effective in relief. Expect Holgorsen to use both QBs at some point of the game. The Law would also love to see DC Tony Gibson utilize the same defensive attack the Eers used to beat Baylor. On paper, A&M may be a better team. Football games aren't played on paper, in this case they are played on synthetic grass.

The SEC has sent many teams to the Liberty Bowl that have laid a massive egg.

#RuleOfLaw Prediction: WVU 33 - Texas A&M 27
