2014 Alamo Bowl Preview

UCLA (9-3, Pac-12) vs Kansas State (9-3, Big 12)

Date: Friday, January 2, 2015
Time: 6:45 p.m. (EST)
Television: ESPN

Bill Snyder's squad lost three games this season. All three were to teams ranked in the top 20 – two in the top six. One of those losses was to Auburn back in September in a game the Wildcats simply gave away. Had K-State won that game against an SEC team, it could have changed some perceptions about the strength of the SEC and the Big XII. What's done is done and that game has little to do with the Alamo Bowl against the Bruins save for one thing: UCLA runs very much the same read-option style of offense as does Auburn.

UCLA head coach Jim Mora, Jr described the K-State offense as “more exotic than Arizona's”. The Law has written and read many descriptions of Coach Snyder's 'cats over the years. Exotic has never been used as a descriptor until now.

The thing that will give UCLA fits is the same thing that wears down every team that K-State plays and that is that the Best Unis in the Big XII just don't make a lot of mistakes. The Wildcats don't turn the ball over or commit many fouls, they are disciplined on defense (especially in the front seven) and they convert well on 3rd down. Bruin QB Brett Hundley could be a difference maker in the game as he is quick and decisive. Also, if you haven't seen UCLA's Miles Jack, he is very fun to watch – on both sides of the ball. Jack is a linebacker and running back. Expect Jake Water and Tyler Lockett to finish their Wildcat careers on a strong note.

#RuleOfLaw: K-State 37 - UCLA 31
