St. John's Red Storm All-Time NCAA Tournament Record: 27-31

The St. John's Red Storm, formerly known as the Redmen, were a college basketball powerhouse from the late 1960s to the early 1990s regularly playing in the NCAA Tournament. Winners of the 1952 NCAA Tournament Championship, St. John's also advanced to the Final Four in 1985 and has played in the NCAA Tournament nearly 30 times and won the NIT Tournament in 2003.



1951 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated Connecticut in second round, 63-52
  • Lost to Kentucky in regional semifinal, 59-43
  • Defeated North Carolina State in third place game, 71-59

1952 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated North Carolina State in second round, 60-49
  • Defeated Kentucky in regional semifinal, 64-57
  • Defeated Illinois in regional final, 61-59
  • Lost to Kansas in National Championship, 80-63

1961 NCAA Tournament

  • Lost to Wake Forest in second round, 97-74

1967 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated Temple in second round, 57-53
  • Lost to Boston College in regional semifinal, 63-62
  • Lost to Princeton in third place game, 78-58

1968 NCAA Tournament

  • Lost to Davidson in second round, 79-70

1969 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated Princeton in second round, 72-63
  • Lost to Davidson in regional semifinal, 79-69
  • Lost to Duquesne in third place game, 75-72

1973 NCAA Tournament

  • Lost to Pennsylvania in second round, 62-61

1976 NCAA Tournament
