The Rhode Island Rams have not appeared in the NCAA Tournament since 1999 after three straight seasons in the Big Dance that saw the Rams reach the Elite 8 in 1998 as a #8 seed. Similarly, Rhode Island made the Sweet 16 in 1988 as a #11 seed. A member of the Atlantic 10 Conference, Rhode Island has played just under .500 basketball in their NCAA Tournament appearances.

  • Defeated Murray State in first round, 97-74
  • Defeated Kansas in second round, 80-75
  • Defeated Valparaiso in regional semifinal, 74-68
  • Lost to Stanford in regional final, 79-77

1999 NCAA Tournament

  • Lost to Charlotte in first round, 81-70
