Oklahoma Sooners All-Time NCAA Tournament Record: 35-29

The Oklahoma Sooners have a storied basketball history participating in the NCAA Tournament Final Four four different times winning two National Champiopnships. Between 1979 and 2009, the Sooners appeared in the NCAA Tournament 24 times showing strong consistency during their time in the Big 12 Conference as one of the elite basketball programs.



1939 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated Utah State in regional semifinal, 50-39
  • Lost to Oregon in regional final, 55-37

1943 NCAA Tournament

  • Lost to Wyoming in regional semifinal, 53-50
  • Defeated Washington in third place game, 48-43

1947 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated Oregon State in regional semifinal, 56-54
  • Defeated Texas in regional final, 55-54
  • Lost to Holy Cross in National Championship, 58-47

1979 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated Texas in second round, 90-76
  • Lost to Indiana State in regional semifinal, 93-72

1983 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated UAB in first round, 71-63
  • Lost to Indiana in second round, 63-49
