Louisville Cardinals All-Time NCAA Tournament Record: 74-42

A participant in the NCAA Tournament 40 times, the Louisville Cardinals are one of the winningest programs in college basketball history. Louisville has been in the NCAA Tournament's Final Four 10 times but the program is probably best known for their run in the 1970s and 1980s which saw the Cardinals in the Final Four 6 times in 15 years and 4 times in 7 years from 1980-1986. Louisville won the National Championship in 1980 and again in 1986 and won the 1956 NIT Tournament Championship. Their most recent title was in 2013.

  • Lost to Ohio State in regional semifinal, 56-55
  • Defeated Morehead State in third place game, 83-61

1964 NCAA Tournament

  • Lost to Ohio in second round, 71-69

1967 NCAA Tournament

  • Lost to Southern Methodist in regional semifinal, 83-81
  • Lost to Kansas in third place game, 70-68

1968 NCAA Tournament

  • Lost to Houston in regional semifinal, 91-75
  • Defeated Kansas State in third place game, 93-63

1972 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated Louisiana-Lafayette in regional semifinal, 88-84
  • Defeated Kansas State in regional final, 72-65
  • Lost to UCLA in National Semifinal, 96-77
