Cincinnati Bearcats All-Time NCAA Tournament Record: 44-27

The Cincinnati Bearcats have been members of the Missouri Valley Conference, the MAC and Conference USA over the years now playing their basketball in the powerful Big East Conference. UC played in the NCAA Tournament 14 times under coach Bob Huggins between 1992 and 2005 but was never able to advance past the Elite Eight. Cincinnati won the NCAA Tournament Championship in 1961 and again in 1962 and UC has made multiple NIT Tournament appearances over the years.



1958 NCAA Tournament

  • Lost to Kansas State in regional semifinal, 83-80
  • Defeated Arkansas in third place game, 97-62

1959 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated TCU in regional semifinal, 77-73
  • Defeated Kansas State in regional final, 85-75
  • Lost to California in National Semifinal, 64-58
  • Defeated Louisville in third place game, 98-85

1960 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated DePaul in regional semifinal, 99-59
  • Defeated Kansas in regional final, 82-71
  • Lost to California in National Semifinal, 77-69
  • Defeated New York University in third place game, 95-71

1961 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated Texas Tech in regional semifinal, 78-55
  • Defeated Kansas State in regional final, 69-64
  • Defeated Utah in National Semifinal, 82-67
  • Defeated Ohio State in National Championship, 70-65

1962 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated Creighton in regional semifinal, 66-46
  • Defeated Colorado in regional final, 73-46
  • Defeated UCLA in National Semifinal, 72-70
  • Defeated Ohio State in National Championship, 71-59

1963 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated Texas in regional semifinal, 73-68
  • Defeated Colorado in regional final, 67-60
  • Defeated Oregon State in National Semifinal, 80-46
  • Lost to Loyola (IL) in National Championship, 60-58

1966 NCAA Tournament

  • Lost to UTEP in regional semifinal, 78-76
  • Lost to Southern Methodist in third place game, 89-84

1975 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated Texas A&M in second round, 87-79
  • Lost to Louisville in regional semifinal, 78-63
  • Defeated Notre Dame in third place game, 95-87

1976 NCAA Tournament

  • Lost to Notre Dame in second round, 79-78

1977 NCAA Tournament

  • Lost to Marquette in second round, 66-51

1992 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated Delaware in first round, 85-47
  • Defeated Michigan State in second round, 77-65
  • Defeated UTEP in regional semifinal, 69-67
  • Defeated Memphis in regional final, 88-57
  • Lost to Michigan in National Semifinal, 76-72

1993 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated Coppin State in first round, 93-66
  • Defeated New Mexico State in second round, 92-55
  • Defeated Virginia in regional semifinal, 71-54
  • Lost to North Carolina in regional final, 75-68

1994 NCAA Tournament

  • Lost to Wisconsin in first round, 80-72

1995 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated Temple in first round, 77-71
  • Lost to Connecticut in second round, 96-91

1996 NCAA Tournament

  • Defeated UNC Greensboro in first round, 66-61
