Akron Zips All-Time NCAA Tournament Record: 0-3

The Akron Zips basketball program is one of the most successful in recent history in the MAC having appeared in the MAC Tournament Championship Game in five straight years after winning it in 2011. Akron also won the 2009 MAC Tournaments to head to the NCAA Tournament. After dropping their 2011 NCAA Tournament game Akron is 0-3 in their three NCAA Tournament appearances. In addition, Akron has appeared in the NIT Tournament four times in program history.


1986 NCAA Tournament - 15 seed

  • First Round - #2 Michigan - L 70-64

2009 NCAA Tournament - 13 seed

  • First Round - #4 Gonzaga - L 77-64

2011 NCAA Tournament - 15 seed

  • First Round - #2 Notre Dame - L 69-56
