CollegeInsider.com Basketball Tournament (CIT) - 2011 CIT Postseason Tournament

2011 marks the third annual CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) featuring another 24 deserving teams who do not get the opportunity to play in the NCAA or NIT Tournaments. Originally a 16-team tournament, the selection of the CIT teams used to take place after the NCAA & NIT teams have been announced, but the CIT has recently been announcing bids being handed out before the NCAA Tournament has been selected. It seems that the CollegeInsider.com Tournament will now look to compete with the CBI Tournament and NIT for teams. With the CIT Tournament, 140 Division I basketball teams will continue their seasons as the CIT will once again be broadcast on Fox College Sports.

The College Insider Tournament is aimed at rewarding "deserving college basketball programs" with a chance to continue their basketball season and have a chance to play on for a championship. Teams will be seeded and games will be played on campus sites with a single-elimination tournament format. The CIT Championship will also be played at a campus site which will be determined by the seeding of the remaining teams.
