Why They Can Surprise:
The Blue Devils will not impress anybody with their athletic ability or shooting skills, but they have out-worked everybody in the NEC. They do not share the ball particularly well or have a deep bench, but they do play tough defense. They do not have any height to speak of or a major presence in the low post, but they are the second best rebounding team in the conference.

What Central Connecticut State does have is a trio of stars in Tristan Blackwood, Javier Mojica and Obie Nwadike. Blackwood is a great three-point shooter and attempts over nine long balls per contest, making 3.6.The point guard is one of the best free-throw shooters in the nation, but he needs to be aggressive to take advantage of that by getting more trips to the line. Mojica will fill up the stat sheet and is the teams second leading scorer at 16.7 points per game. The 6-3 senior is a great rebounder and a threat from long range. Nwadike, a 6-4 power forward, does most of the work on the glass and will get a double-double more often than not.

Why Central Connecticut State Can Disappoint:
This is a team that went 3-9 in non-conference games. Hustle, heart and hard work can only take you so far against a team with superior talent and height. CCSU generally keeps games close, but against better teams, their lack of depth has proven to be a problem at the end of games.

Who To Watch:
At 6-7, Jemino Sobers is the big man. Sobers has developed into a more consistent scorer as the season has progressed and with a little threat under the basket, the perimeter will be opened up for the shooters. On the defensive end, Sobers averages 2.3 blocks per game and can use his big body to contain some taller centers.

By the Numbers:

Scoring Offense: 69.3 (161st in nation, 6th in conference)

Scoring Defense: 65.7 (104, 1)

Field-Goal Percentage: 43.6 (196, 5)

Field-Goal Defense: 44.0 (170, 2)

Free-Throw Percentage: 72.7 (53, 3)

Rebound Margin: 2.2 (97, 2)

Assists Per Game: 12.6 (226, 8)

Turnovers Per Game: 14.2 (143, 2)
