Villanova Wildcats basketball notes:
Curtis Sumpter will not play for the Wildcats for the rest of the campaign and will instead take a redshirt season. It’s a smart move for him, but bad news for the Wildcats when they start to tire down the stretch. Villanova has done it all season long without Sumpter, so not messing up the chemistry can’t be that bad. Jay Wright has shown off his four guard offense all season against the best competition in the country. There is no reason to believe that the lack of post players will be a concern. If the Wildcats can match four guards up against the frontline of UConn and win, they can do it against anybody and win. This is an experienced, battle tested team that has their eyes set on Indianapolis.
Likely 2006 NCAA Tournament finish: Final Four
