George Mason Patriots basketball notes:
Tony Skinn is suspended for the first game of the NCAA Tournament, and that won’t help the Patriots pull off an upset. The defensive field goal percentage is solid at 39% and ranks ninth in the nation. George Mason doesn’t have much a three-point game, but Lamar Butler can hit the long ball. Jai Lewis and Will Thomas provide a solid frontcourt. Lewis is a big guy and consistent scorer at 6-7 and 275 pounds, but he may run into trouble against taller, more athletic competition. The Patriots haven’t played a game this year without Tony Skinn, their second leading scorer, and the tournament is not a good place to work out that adjustment.
Likely 2006 NCAA Tournament finish: First round
