Humble meets the past, present, and future
Despite Michael Floyd's off the field behavior during his career and as a student at Notre Dame. Floyd comes across as humble and contrite in the video on ESPN Chicago uploaded on August 17th.
"Im privileged to have this opportunity to have my senior season to be successful and go on to play" Says Floyd who was a leader for the Irish last season. A different leader for the Irish Dayne Christ has his own view about Floyd
"Mike is a friend first, i treat him like any of my friends regardless if they are on the team or not. I want to make sure all my friends are making great decisions, being safe and doing the right thing. He (Floyd) is a great kid, he made a mistake, he understands that and the severity of the situation" says Crist who is also in a competition for the starting job for the opening game against the University of South Florida Bulls on September 3 at 3:30 Easter. The game can also be seen on T.V. on NBC.
South Florida doesn't seem to stack up against the Irish team. The overall ratings for South Florida according to the FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) finished 101st in passing yards, 71st in rushing yards, 85th in points for, and 22nd in points against. While the irish finished 34th overall in passing yards, 92nd in rushing yards, 67th in points for and 23rd in Points against. However, these are arbitrary and don't automatically declare a winner.
In fact all these stats really do is provide a basis for coaches on how to improve their teams and prepare game plans. Theses game-plans prepared often advantageous of both the offensive and defensive side and how they are executed often determine how the game is played and won.
Winning the game is the goal for every team across the land. And yet, every week teams dreams are shattered and this season is not any different. Some roads may be easier than others but the goals are the same regardless.
With Lee Corso's "Not so fast, my friend." Running through coaches minds every week is going to be played to the maximum potential, no week will be over looked and no opponent will go un tested.
With every day pulling us closer to the start of the college football season, competitions and practices end and decisions to be addressed. The question running through minds across the land, will this be the year? A season is left to play and each week writes the story but only one will go down as champion. So college football fans, are you ready for some football?
