Oklahoma Football

After struggling in the late '90's, Sooner football has returned to national prominence in the new millennium. Since its last rough season in 1999, Oklahoma has compiled a record of 79-14, winning eleven or more games in every season accept for 2005. They have has two All-American quarterbacks during that stretch and a slew of players that have been drafted by NFL teams. Add in the fact that the Sooners have finished first in the Big 12 in five out of the last seven seasons, and it is clear to see that Oklahoma is one of the most consistently dominant programs in the country.

Oklahoma Football Future Outlook

Oklahoma returns a total of 55 lettermen from next season, but there will be questions at some key positions. Adrian Peterson is gone, but Allen Patrick did a fantastic job last season as the feature back when Peterson was injured, so there is no reason to think the Sooners wont still have success with the run. The biggest question comes at quarterback where junior Joey Halzle is the only man with experience, having attempted two passes last season. Halzle will be battling red shirt freshman Sam Bradford for the starting role.

Defensively the loss of All-American linebacker Rufus Alexander and defensive end C.J. Ah You to the NFL will hurt, but there is still plenty of talent coming back.

The ’07 recruiting class looks promising, with eight players joining the team in the fall that are ranked in the top 25 at their position according to Scout.com.
