Florida Gators Basketball

It only took Billy Donovan until histhird season to hit his stride as a coach at Florida. After posting back-to-back losing seasons Donovan has reeled off nine straight 20-win seasons, the last two of which have resulted in national championships.the Gators have grown into an absolute powerhouse of a program.they are one ofthe few schoolsthat can truly saythat can consistently recruit players from anywhere inthe country with success, andthat is a true testament to Donovan and his coaching staff. Year after yearthe Gators march out talented teams, having had 11 players drafted by an NBA team sincethe 1998 season.

Florida Gators Basketball Future Outlook

If everthere was an excuse to label a season a rebuilding year, this isthe year for Florida.the Gators saw five oftheir players draftedthis summer bythe NBA, and now return a roster with no seniors, one junior, three sophomores and seven freshmen. Junior guard Walter Hodge isthe only returning playerthat saw morethan 10 minutes of playing time per game last season. So whilethe Gators will be inexperienced to saythe least, they can take solace inthe factthat five oftheir newcomersthis season were ranked inthe Rivals 150 forthe class of 2007, including #14 guard Nick Calathes and #19 forward Chandler Parsons. Donovan can get even more excited aboutthe factthat hes received commitments from five more Rivals 150 recruits forthe class of 2008. So whilethe Gators may not make another run for a national championshipthis season, they certainly appear to be ontheir way to challenging once again in just a couple of years.
